I recently became pen-pals with fellow fashion blogger Yammering Muse
. In her first package to me, she included three dresses and I was ecstatic to wear them. I have always loved her style and her keen eye for cute, unique articles of clothing. Included in her package was this light blue, button-up dress. At first glance, I felt as thought it resembled a nurse’s uniform so I was a bit concerned about whether or not I could pull it off. I’m not used to dresses with such a straight cut, so I wanted to make sure I added a belt in order to keep my shape.
I felt this dress could go either way. I could stick to my usual pin-up inspired accessories and add red lipstick and heals or I could try pulling off cute for once. I remembered that I purchased a really adorable necklace from Penelope’s Porch
on etsy a few months ago and that I hadn’t ever worn in and decided to throw it in the mix. Originally, I had a brown belt but felt it didn’t work with the black undershirt, so I switched it up with the one pictured.
I felt very comfortable in this outfit, the material of the dress was quite easy to move in. However, it felt a bit strange to be wearing something so different from my ‘regular’ style. I think maybe next time, I’ll try and turn this around into something a bit more sexy and see how that goes. I may just go ahead and cut off the sleeves and alter it a bit. I could see this turning into a great summer and/or beach dress.

Last tuesday I had the pleasure of meeting fellow blogger Faye Daniels (content NSFW). We dinned and took a stroll through Indigo bookstore (which was incredibly beautiful, by the way). I wanted to look super cute, seeing as she is the owner of fuckyeahchubbyfashion. I had a wonderful time and she looked cute as ever!
Before leaving, I ditched the oxfords heels. It was far too cold and snowy to bare walking outside. I also tossed on a cardigan for warmth.

I turned this OoTD into a mini-photoshoot with a close friend (and aspiring makeup artist). The weather was beautiful and there were plenty of amazing colours outside to play off of. I had an incredibly fun time with this shoot as I’m sure you can see from some of the photos.
My eyes can hardly stay open right now but I didn’t want to wait another day to premiere these photos. Aside from the bad hair day, I thoroughly enjoyed how the shoot turned out and I hope everyone else does too!

First, I’m going to apologize for the quality of these photos. I stayed at a friend’s place for the night and I completely forgot either of my good cameras at home. Thankfully, I had my old canon stashed away in my bag. Secondly, I managed to forget any sort of accessories (which I was not happy about) at home.
I absolutely adore this shirt. The moment I saw it, I needed to have it. I searched frantically through the pile of Extra Smalls and Mediums to find one last XL in stock. Unfortunately, it had a white line over Ernie’s face but that wasn’t enough to make me put it back.
Originally I had planned to wear a red blazer instead of my black cardigan with this outfit. However, after seeing it on, it didn’t quite mesh well. It was definitely one of those ideas that look better in your head.
In spite of the weather we’ve been having, I’m still adamant on my desire to wear skirts. I can’t believe it took me so long to embrace the idea of skirts, especially on me.
I picked up this studded, pale green tube skirt about two weeks ago. It was the last XL in the store and I nabbed it the second I saw it. Now, I used to be wary of putting such light colours on my bottom half. Big girls are supposed to camouflage their bellies, right? I couldn’t disagree more. After years of trying to hide that part of me, I decided to start embracing it. I’m now a huge advocate for fatties showing off their bellies.
I kept the skirt the main focal point. Even though I’ve been integrating more colour into my wardrobe, I’m still an avid fan of black clothing.
Once again, I kept the accessories to a minimum. Not shown on the detail shot of the envelope necklace is printing of “Je T’aime” on the letter. Also not shown are my very basic gold stud earrings.
