My friend Chloe and I bond over our love of well, photos. I’ve known very few people in my life who appreciate getting the perfect shot quite as much as we do (I see you Allie & Erica, don’t worry!). We initially came together after finding each other through instagram. She’s gorgeous, and I love being her photographer so we’re always coming up with fun photo ideas.
The Michael’s Challenge has been on my radar for months now, and I knew I wanted to try it eventually. I knew Chloe would be up for it, so we made solid plans to get it shot. I’ve seen so many people do the classic floral backgrounds, but I couldn’t wait to try out different aisles. I’m already such a fan of shopping there, as well as the photos I’ve seen, so I couldn’t wait to see how ours would turn out.
Lets get one thing out of the way. Its really, really hard to find the right lighting inside of Michaels. I think that was out biggest challenge. Second was finding the density of products in an aisle to make it look right. We spent most of our time just moving things around to get the right shot. I also found that editing Chloe’s photo were a little easier. I chalk this up to the light hitting her a little softer than on me. I’m much taller than she is, so I think the fluorescent light was a bit harsher on me. Next time, I might just get on the floor right the shot.
Aside from that, I had so much fun getting creative and taking photos. So much so, that I think we might go to other stores and try this again. We’re brainstorming other places to take photos, but I have pastel backdrops on the brain! With that being said, enjoy our photos!
