My brother celebrated his 28th birthday on the 17th of March and luckily for me, the weather was nice enough to dress for spring. Originally I had planned to wear my Peter Pan collar dress from Asos but I tried this ensemble on and fell in love. The skirt shown was originally a dress I purchased from Walmart in the summer but I had a love/hate relationship with it. I love the print of the bottom but loathed the black, zipper top and I felt it didn’t really do anything for me. I was inspired by rawrmanifesto
to chop the top half off and use it as just a skirt. I’m really pleased with the results and I cannot wait to wear it more often this summer. The cat eye glasses didn’t make it out the door but they were fun to wear for picture purposes.

I recently became pen-pals with fellow fashion blogger Yammering Muse
. In her first package to me, she included three dresses and I was ecstatic to wear them. I have always loved her style and her keen eye for cute, unique articles of clothing. Included in her package was this light blue, button-up dress. At first glance, I felt as thought it resembled a nurse’s uniform so I was a bit concerned about whether or not I could pull it off. I’m not used to dresses with such a straight cut, so I wanted to make sure I added a belt in order to keep my shape.
I felt this dress could go either way. I could stick to my usual pin-up inspired accessories and add red lipstick and heals or I could try pulling off cute for once. I remembered that I purchased a really adorable necklace from Penelope’s Porch
on etsy a few months ago and that I hadn’t ever worn in and decided to throw it in the mix. Originally, I had a brown belt but felt it didn’t work with the black undershirt, so I switched it up with the one pictured.
I felt very comfortable in this outfit, the material of the dress was quite easy to move in. However, it felt a bit strange to be wearing something so different from my ‘regular’ style. I think maybe next time, I’ll try and turn this around into something a bit more sexy and see how that goes. I may just go ahead and cut off the sleeves and alter it a bit. I could see this turning into a great summer and/or beach dress.

I usually don’t do review posts but I simply had to share this with my followers. My friend Jen (previously known at Big Suit Blog) and I were discussing the lipstick brands we use and she mentioned that she buys the drugstore brand Wet n Wild. Being a bit of a lipstick snob, I couldn’t see how a $2 lipstick could be any good but I was willing to give it a shot anyhow.
I purchased this very cute cherry colour called 519a. I personally really love darker shades for my fair complexion. I was pleasantly surprised with the results after applying a test layer. Not only did the lipstick give me a smooth, silky finish but it actually concealed how chapped and dry my lips were beforehand. I left the colour on for the rest of the night and it remained silky and moisturized.
If you’re looking for a cheap, long-lasting lipstick I highly suggest browsing the options given to you by Wet n Wild. I’m definitely going to go back and pick up a few more colours.
